I’m so excited to bring you today’s post! As many of you might know I have been receiving OwlCrate since April, and I really love it. I have talked a bit about the books that have come with it. So far everyone book I have read has been a great read. Last month I tried to do an unboxing on my Instagram stories and it just didn’t work. This month I lugged out my lightbox and thought I might as well try a blog post!
Warning Spoilers Below!
This month’s theme was Dawn of a New World which I was a little worried about because I’m not the hugest fan of Science Fiction in the classic sense. but let me tell you OwlCrate hit it out of the darn park!
Illuminae Files Book Tin:
This adorable tin inspired by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman’s Illuminae files is such a nice and durable tine. It’s a pretty decent size too. This really only reminds me that I really need to get around to reading the Illuminae Files. It’s sitting there on my TBR cart waiting for me! The tin was designed by Stella Bookish Art.
The Lunar Chronicles Moon Necklace:
This is most definitely my absolute favourite piece from this box. I love the moon and anything having to do with it at all. This is from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, which again I haven’t read any of. As of now have no plans to read them either. I’ll just have to enjoy this necklace by Iron and Ink Designs.
Saga Magnetic Bookmarks:
Look another book I haven’t read! Although in this case, it’s actually comic Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Fiona Staples. I actually only vaguely even knew about this series and I think mostly thanks to Destiny @ Howling Libraries. Am I going to read it? Who knows? Am I going to enjoy these adorable bookmarks by Craftedvan? HECK YEAH!!!
Look another book item for a book I haven’t read! So for those counting at home, I’m 4 and 4 this month for items from books I haven’t read. At least Warcross by Marie Lu, like Illuminae Files is on my TBR. I do like the quote of this sticker, even if it will give me total sticker paralysis. This stunning holographic sticker was designed by Blanca Montiel.
Now we move to the books, yes that’s right books and their related items. This month OwlCrate spoils us with TWO exclusive signed books and enamel pins. Keep reading to see what books we got this month!
I Hope You Get This Message by Farah Naz Rishi:
I had vaguely heard of this book but didn’t really know much about it, so I was thrilled when I received it because as often is the case with OwlCrate picks they are books I wouldn’t normally go out of my way to get.
Crier’s War by Nina Varela:
Now, this was a book I was thrilled to see in the box. I am so looking forward to reading it and was just about to buy it actually. I could not possibly be any happier! SQUEEEEEEE!!!!
Crier’s War and I Hope You Get This Message Badges:
Obviously I’m excited for these, they look so cool. The top one is rather obviously inspired by Criers War, specifically important stones from the book. While the bottom one is an ode to Adeem from I Hope You Get This Message’s love of radios. I can’t wait to read these books and wear these custom pins by The Enchanted Bookshop with pride.
All that’s left in the box now is the sneak peek for next month’s box theme Through The Enchanted Forest. I’m excited because it’s going to include an exclusive reading planner! I have heard so many good things about this year’s reading planner so I can’t wait to get my hands on next years.
That’s everything in my OwlCrate box for October. I’m really happy with it all even though I haven’t read all the books that inspired the goodies. I did get two new books to read one of which I’m absolutely thrilled about. OwlCrate is 29.99 USD plus $19.99 USD shipping coming to $49.98 USD total. This equates to roughly $85 NZD, which might seem high in the end works out to be pretty decent considering a hardcover ew release is $45+ NZD.
