I discovered this tag recently on Doddy About Books blog and thought it was perfect. I have a love-hate relationship with summer: I love the light airy outfits I get to wear. I hate the hot sweaty burny sun! I prefer spring I think the most, as you get to slowly pack away your warm clothes but it’s not that hot yet. Thanks, Sue for sharing the tag!
Rules for the tag are:
- Link back to the original creator (The Bookworm Dreamer)
- Tell us what your favourite season and why it isn’t summer
- Tag some friends
1. Don’t stop! A book you couldn’t stop reading.
The Absolute Book by Elizabeth Knox. When reading this I just could not stop at all. When I wasn’t reading it, I couldn’t think of anything but this book. It is by far one of the best books I read this year and I still find myself obsessing over it. Elizabeth Knox is a brilliant writer and this book is peak Knox style.
2. You’re a cheetah – a book you read in just one day.
The Boy Who Steals Houses by C.G. Drews. This was such an enjoyable fast and fun read. I was lucky enough to get it on a day off and just sat down and read it. I remember the stunned feeling I had when I realized I read it practically in one sitting.
3. Couldn’t let go – a book you reread straight away.
Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore. It should be no surprise at all that this is one of my absolute favourite reads. It was so great and multi-layered that I knew there were things I missed so I started it right back over. I have actually read this book three times since September.
4. Calm it down – a book that got your heart racing.
Call Down The Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater. OMFG every part of this book had my heart racing and pounding the entire time. I just could not be chill at all throughout reading this book. The ending nearly gave me a heart attack with how fast my heart was racing.
5. Second best – a second book you liked better than the first.
Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray. So I have just the first three books of this series for the first time, and while this book was a slow start It was absolutely my favourite of the series. It hit all the right marks and had excellent diversity and complexity.
6. Books on fire – a series you read straight through.
Septimus Heap Series by Angie Sage. I have read this series so much and I know that I go on and on and on and on and on about it, but it is literally my favourite series ever. It actually eclipses Harry Potter for me and is both better written and has better diversity.
7. Midnight madness – a book that kept you up late.
We Hunt The Flame by Hafsah Faizal. Luckily I read this on holiday because I was up until 3 am finishing this book. It was so well written and such a thrilling tale that I hit the 3/4th mark and just could not stop!
Thanks for taking the time to read through this tag. What’s your favourite season?
